Background:

Over the past eight years, I have been working as an independent consultant in the areas of eBusiness consulting,  information technology architecture and software engineering.  I have been providing quality services to small and medium size businesses as they adapt their processes to incorporate newer computing and data communications technologies.  My areas of expertise include systems analysis, design and implementation of technology infrastructure solutions for the enterprise.  I have been focusing on Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) methodologies that can be used for a wide variety of activities like business systems analysis, business process reengineering and software engineering.  I have specialized in Java for implementing OO systems.  I balance my time between, teaching and project work.  I have trained corporate staff in all areas of Java, CORBA, XML, RMI, EJB, J2EE and client-side Java beans.  In mentoring and project assignments, I have been involved with all aspects of the software development process: analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment.

I streamline my solutions to satisfy the business needs of my customers and have successfully serviced a wide cross-section of the business spectrum, including: strategic marketing, manufacturing, retail sales, software development, electronic commerce, multimedia production, law offices, finance and accounting, internet service providers and many more.

Prior to my career as an independent consultant, I spent four years with Owens Corning in the information systems department in several roles.  I successfully designed and implemented a network management strategy based on the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) using the HP-OpenView framework.  I also coordinated a team of vendors to implement the corporate wide Internet access, external web hosting, intranet information servers and small vendor commerce B2B services.

As the IT Architecture sub-team leader for the strategic marketing reengineering group, I gained valuable experience understanding business processes and streamlining technology solutions to enable these processes.

I also have five years experience as a programmer/analyst for a mix of Fortune 500 companies, academia and small businesses.  Some of the programming involved laboratory and factory automation and manufacturing process control. My experience in the public sector consists of a six month software design and implementation project for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

I was a contributing author on a book: Enterprise Integration Patterns : Designing, Building, and Deploying Messaging Solutions (Pearson Education/Addison-Wesley: ISBN 0-3212-0068-3) published in October 2003.

I co-authored a book: Cocoon 2 Programming: Web Publishing with XML and Java (Sybex: ISBN 0-7821-4131-5) published in October 2002.

I have recently completed working on a book with three other authors: XML Problem-Design-Solution (Wiley/Wrox: ISBN: 0471791199)
